2020 β Packaging Design
The goal was to create an innovative packaging solution for the launch of Beatsβ first gaming-centric product offering. The final design took inspiration from loot crates, a virtual prize or reward in games which often grant the gamer special power-ups or rare gear.

Initially there was consideration for the inclusion of a carry case in the packaging. Below is the initial explore of a variety of case concepts.

Round one of the packaging explore. The goal was to explore a wide range of architectures while keeping in mind the sustainability design principles established in the Solo & Powerbeats programs.

Final Design
Based on pricing and reliability testing and marketing, concept βLoot Crateβ was selected. Further refinements were conducted to improve size, reliability, and OOBE.
Initial Unboxing The sleeve & hangtab are completely made of micro-flute. The sleeve opens using a micro-perforation.
PaperFoam Structure The cavity in the back shell of the the loot crate encapsulates the USB cable & collateral documents
